Site visits

The Structus team have been out and about, visiting two of our projects on the North Shore of Auckland.  Both are nearing completion in construction.

Various members of the team have been working on these two particular projects for over 5 years. We visited a 5-storey aged care village site in Browns Bay and a luxury 6 storey apartment block in Milford.

It is always fun to get out to see the projects we have been designing, transformed into the completed structure – ready for Residents.

Bream Bay College

Construction is well underway on the site at Bream Bay College, Northland.  Structus has been involved with the masterplanning of Bream Bay College with Ministry of Architecture + Interiors for some time, so it’s exciting to see works progressing on site.  This phase of the masterplan is 2 no. new classroom blocks fully constructed from long span engineered timber, with covered veranda walkways and raft slabs.

Structus are providing full structural, civil and seismic engineering services on this project.  We look forward to continuing to work with the team from NPM Construction (design and build contractor) and Ministry of Architecture + Interiors.

Promotions

We are pleased to announce that Craig Bell, Leticia Lum and Thomas Zhang have all been promoted in recognition of their continued leadership and commitment to their own development and that of Structus.

Craig and Leticia have been promoted to Lead Structural Engineer.  This newly created role acknowledges their position in the company and alignment with our culture of a high performing team.  Craig and Leticia both exemplify the values of being a Senior Leader in Structus, consistently demonstrating dedication to their work and clients, building strong relationships, and supporting our team of engineers and drafters.  Craig’s technical skills and attention to detail have been valuable for our clients in the Healthcare, Education and multi-story Residential sectors.   Leticia has continued to develop her skills and strengthen relationships within the Retail and Residential sectors as she leads many projects throughout New Zealand.

Thomas has been promoted to Senior Structural Engineer.  Thomas has further developed his technical skills as an engineer and has also stepped into the role of Project lead. Thomas has extended himself with a variety of challenging projects, supported by the senior team at Structus.  He has been working across Retail, Education and Healthcare sectors and has developed a keen interest and skillset in Engineered Timber design.

We look forward to seeing these three grow into their new roles and continue to develop in Structus.

Countdown Pioneer Highway

Construction has begun on the new Countdown supermarket and retail tenancies in Palmerston North.

This is a challenging site as the location is in a highly seismic zone with liquefiable ground and on a flood plain.  Delivered by Letica Lum and Gilbert Han, the main structure is designed to be raised above the flood plain and the loading dock slab is designed as suspended.  Foundation work has begun with our solution for the ground conditions comprising timber driven piles with RC pilecaps and ground beams, with tension anchorages embedded into some of the piles.

We are working with Watts & Hughes delivering this project for Woolworths New Zealand.
