Countdown Te Rapa

Construction is now complete for the refurbishment and extension of Countdown, Te Rapa.  Leticia Lum, Salvie Dan and Gilbert Han have worked together to deliver this refurbishment in Hamilton, with construction going smoothly and to programme.

The team have done a great job on delivering this project, a redevelopment of the existing supermarket including new online pick-up area, canopies, standalone pharmacy and alterations to the existing supermarket.

Structus were engaged for structural engineering design and construction monitoring services.

Countdown Richmond

Construction is well underway in Richmond, Nelson for an exciting new green star Countdown supermarket. The supermarket building consists of 4,500m2 of Countdown Supermarket and 2 no. additional retail tenancies, drive through covered loading dock, standalone walkways and pickup canopies. Structus are providing full structural engineering design, sustainability design inputs, 3D Revit documentation and construction monitoring.

Site Visits

Recently, the team took the opportunity to visit a couple of our sites that are in the Construction phase.  This is a great opportunity for our engineers and drafters to see the works in progress that members of the project team have been working on.

Not only are these visits a fun team activity out of the office, but they are also a great learning experience for everyone not involved in the project on site.  Being out of the office and seeing the months of design transformed into structure is very rewarding and informative.

We visited an example of our Industrial work – Island Units Development in Highbrook (a striking architectural design of 6 no. adjoining plus a single standalone warehouses and associated offices for each warehouse).  We also visited a two of our Residential sites in Glenn Innes and East Tamaki where Structus are delivering over 80 no. 2 storey terraced housing dwellings, as part of the Tamaki Redevelopment Programme.

Gasometer Carpark

Construction is complete at the new Gasometer carpark in Takapuna

Gasometer is a new multi storey public transit building, as part of The Takapuna Centre Plan, and construction works were completed in September.  Catering for current and future needs, with futureproofing built into the structural design, the project design in its setting has been carefully considered by the client and project team.  The Takapuna Centre Plan is set for further development and will be home to a high-quality blend of commercial, retail and residential spaces.

The building has a column free space with primary beams spanning 16m which were precambered to carry dead load deflections (we’re proud to advise the precambers ‘flattened’ to finished levels after the slabs were poured!).  Composite grout filled CHS columns achieve high strength and fire rating while being unobtrusive to the carpark layout.

The building has a complex architectural façade at its gable ends and uses its precast cladding panels to act as carpark barriers.  The building also features state of the art number plate recognition parking systems and a high specification ‘End of Transport’ facility.

Structus are thrilled to have provided structural engineering services for this fantastic building.

Construction monitoring

PAK’nSAVE Wairau

The contractor got some great shots of the precast concrete panels and structural steel being installed and lifted in to place at the site in Wairau, Auckland.

The refurbishment of this supermarket includes a new 1400m2 bulk store as an extension to the existing supermarket. The new bulk store consists of a column free portal frame and canopy structure supported on screw piles. @Thomas Zhang is providing construction monitoring to complete our services which includes full structural design and documentation.

Structus is 5!

We are thrilled to announce that Structus has recently turned 5!  This is a significant milestone that we are delighted for Structus to have passed.

Structus has continued to strengthen our position in the market over the last 5 years.  We are now a well-established consultancy, with a strong reputation for delivering high quality engineering services, consistently and with reliability.   It has been a challenging year as New Zealand has had to deal with many tests and the resilience shown has been uplifting.  We are proud of the Structus team who have consistently demonstrated professionalism and dedication to delivering the best quality service for our clients whether working from home, in the office or on site.

Our team has continued to grow in strength and ability over the years with Structus, and we now look forward to the challenges ahead with excitement and optimism.

We have enjoyed successfully delivering many stimulating and challenging projects over the last 5 years.  Thank you to our valued clients for the trust and loyalty in working with Structus.

Eden View

The Structus team visited one of our projects last week for a site visit and some hard-earned time out of the office.  It is great to visit as a team to see the design and solutions, worked on tirelessly by our Engineers and Drafters, being built.

The Eden View project has seen construction completion of some challenging retaining, substructures and ground floor slabs, plus working around Covid-19 requirements.  Now there is a real buzz as the superstructure springs to life.

It is exciting to see two big tower cranes now on site (crane bases designed by Structus) and the steelwork erection proceeding at pace and even some of the brick embossed precast cladding panels starting to take shape.  The structure generally comprises precast double tee flooring on steel sway frames and steel concentrically braced frames (CBF’s), supported on concrete bored piles.

Great progress is being made with Ganellen running the site well and a smart project team involved.

Northland District Health Board, Whangarei Hospital

The NDHB Whangarei Theatre Expansion project is under Construction.

Situated in Whangarei Hospital, the new building is a 2 storey building, including new operating theatres, that is being built adjacent to the existing theatres.  It is testament to the great team that this project was able to progress while we are in varying levels of lockdown. Structus are providing full structural design and documentation of this project, as well as construction phase services.

Islands Units Development

The Island Units Development project is under Construction!
Situated in the Highbrook Estate, this architectural project consists of several warehouses comprising a total of 7 no. tenancies with a total floor area of 4,500sqm, and with 3 no. 2 storey offices and 5 no. single storey offices.
Structus are providing full structural design and documentation of this project, as well as construction phase services.
